- General Cleaning Information
- Spills or cat accidents – there is a white bucket in the utility/recycle hallway closet as well as other general cleaning items like rags and cleaning sprays. Note: if you think one of the cats has had an accident somewhere, there is a small blacklight flashlight in the white bucket. Turn off the lights and use the black light flashlight to look for the pee or puke…if you find something it will glow in the flashlight. Note: The carpet may show past puke marks even though it’s been cleaned. If not sure, the “sniff” test will usually confirm a mark is fresh.
- Puke On Floor: wipe up with paper towel; spray with Bona Floor Cleaner and wipe with paper towelOn carpet or furniture: pull up most with paper towel but don’t rub it in; spray (not soaked) with ZU OxyTough, don’t rub or rub very little. Let it sit – if still stained, after a few hours or next day spray again. With bad ones, it sometimes takes two or three sprays, usually one spray will do it. PeeOn Floor: If still wet, soak up with paper towel; spray a urine neutralizer and wipe up with paper towel; after this spray with Bona Floor Cleaner and wipe with paper towel. On carpet or furniture: Try to soak up with paper towel first. Spray with ZU OxyTough, don’t rub, or rub very little. Let it sit – if still smells after it has dried, spray again. Once dried, spray Fabric Care Fabric Freshener on the furniture.
- Bathroom – there is a bucket in the cupboard under the Ensuite sink with basic bathroom cleaning items
- Kitchen – there is cleaning spray for the counters and sink under the kitchen sink; this is where the dishwasher tabs are as well.
- Laundry – all the basic stuff on top of the washer/dryer or on the shelf right above. (We use dawn dish soap as a stain remover…use sparingly directly on the stain)
- General Floor Cleaning – There’s a blue Bona Mop in the hallway closet, can be used on all upstairs floors and does not need rinsing. More cleaner is available in the Basement Storage Room if needed. Mixing instructions are written on the bottle.
- Bathrooms
- Sinks/Counters/Mirrors
- Main Bathroom counter should be cleaned, if necessary, with Granite Cleaning Spray, can be found under the main bathroom sink (aerosol can with black lid)There are bathroom cleaning supplies under the Ensuite Bathroom sinkIn the Ensuite shower you will find hanging:
- A purple or pink Norwex Window cloth…dampen slightly with water and use on mirrors.
- A rougher Norwex “Enviro” cloth. This is great for a quick cleaning of the sink, just dampen with water
Toilets- A toilet brush and cleaner are located on the right side of the Ensuite toilet.A toilet plunger is located in the Main Bathroom, behind the toilet near the recycle bin.
- Shower
- There will be shower cleaner under the Ensuite Bathroom Sink.
- Vacuum
- The Roomba (Dora 2.0) can be used periodically to help cut down on cat hair or litter tracked from the cat boxes. (See the section on the Roomba for more info). We suggest starting Dora 2.0 when leaving for the day, so you don’t have to listen to it run. Good to check that cat toys are picked up and no cat “messes” are on the floor, as Dora 2.0 will spread it around!
- There is a Dyson Vac in the hallway closet (very easy to use), and an older Dyson next to the laundry sink in the basement.
- The house has Central Vacuum…the hose is to the left of the washing machine in the basement, with multiple outlets around the house.
- There is a kick vent under the kitchen sink if you need to sweep the kitchen with a broom.
- Miscellaneous Info
- Toilet paper is kept under the sink of the Main Bathroom, in the bottom drawer of the vanity in the Ensuite Bathroom, and more can be found in the basement near the work bench.
